UPDATE: Victim identified in Sunday morning crash
Apr 10, 2018
It all happened around 9:45 a.m. Sunday.Three different departments were called to the intersection of 14B Road and Beech Road. Officers say Michael Nuss was driving his Ford Ranger south on Beech Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign.Nuss was hit by the driver of Dodge Ram pickup truck who was heading west on 14B Rd. “One of the vehicles failed to yield to the other vehicle,” says Marshall County Sheriff’s Officer Les McFarland. They say the truck that failed to yield was the Ford Ranger. Two people were inside that truck, Michael Nuss, 30, and Misty Rooney, 30, also from Bourbon.Rooney was unconscious and taken to the hospital by a helicopter with serious injuries. Unfortunately, Nuss died at the scene. There was one man in the Dodge Ram, Charles Losee, 35, of Etna Green. He was able to take himself to the hospital. As this investigation continues, these officers have a reminder for you.“Remember that road safety, be cautious, slow down and also be it very important that it is farming season and there are a lot of farming implements on the roadway today,” says Officer McFarland.A fund is set up to help the family with funeral expenses through the Frain Mortuary in Winamac. A visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 18 from 5-7 p.m. with his funeral to follow. There will be a private burial.
